Favorite Beauty Products of 2015

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

Above are the beauty products I have used/loved the most throughout 2015. Most of these products weren't brand new this past year, but they're what I've been using the most! I'm going to go through the products starting on at the top left corner, then go across.

1. Maybelline Eye Studio Silk Eyeshadow- I've had this eyeshadow for a whole, but I recently started using it again. I love using the peachy nude color on my lid, it really makes my blue eyes pop since it has a warm undertone. I love combining the nude color with the two brown shades from my Naked basics palette. This eyeshadow blends REALLY well and has great pigmentation! I highly recommend trying it out!

2. Urban Decay's Naked Basics Palette- This is the original Naked basics palette. I've had this for a couple years too. I have used this palette almost everyday I've worn eyeshadow since I got it, and I haven't even used half of the palette. I know this is more expensive than an eyeshadow palette you could get at the drugstore, but it is 100% worth it! The shades are perfect for an everyday look. You can wear the shadows alone or easily incorporate them into another makeup look. I would consider this a staple in my makeup collection!

3. Urban Decay's Original Primer Potion-  I originally tried out this primer when I received a free sample of it with my Naked 3 palette, I just couldn't bring myself to spend $20 on it. I purchased the primer when it was 50% off at Ulta earlier in the year;  I have no idea what I'm going to do once it runs out. This is honestly the best eyeshadow primer I've used. My eyeshadow isn't going anywhere when I put this on!

4. Aquaphor Chapstick- This.Is.The.Best.Chapstick.Ever! I started purchasing this chapstick in November when I was in need of a really good chapstick. The chapstick comes in a squeeze tube for an easy application. This product works instantly, and leaves my lips feeling extremely smooth!

5. Revlon's Ultra HD Lipstick- I bought this lipstick when I found out the Maybelline Color Whisper lip products were discontinued. I was in search of an everyday lip color that wasn't too bold. I decided to try out this lipstick in the color rose, and I love it! This adds the perfect tint of pink to my lips without being too dramatic for an everyday look.

6. Nail Products- I've always wanted a veryy light shade of pink nail polish. I forgot my nail polish when I went to N.Y.C in March, so the perfect time arrived to finally pick up this color. I bought Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear nail polish in the color tickled pink. The nail polish in the middle is my favorite base coat and the nail polish on the right is my favorite top coat. I found out about these two products when I was watching one of Ingrid Nilsen's favorites videos. She mentioned how she really liked the look of them together, so I decided to give them a try. These two products look EXTREMELY nice together, they give you a salon worthy manicure!

7. Equate Makeup Wipes- So these aren't very exciting. They are just Walmart's version of Simple's makeup removing wipes. These wipes are formulated for sensitive skin, are paraben/fragrance free and are noncomedogenic. The best part is that a package of 40 wipes only costs about $3.00!

8. Viva La Juicy Perfume- I have absolutely loved this perfume since I was 13 years old. I got it for Christmas a couple of years ago and I just ran out of it (I'M SO SAD), so I'll have to buy a new bottle real soon! I found myself wearing this a lot throughout the past year, so I thought I'd add it in my favorites.

9. L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara- This is the best mascara I have ever used. It is my go to mascara that is always in my makeup bag. This mascara lengthens my eyelashes a lot, while giving them a natural, non-clumpy look!

10. Maybelline Line Stiletto Ulimate Precision Liquid Eyeliner- This is my favorite liquid eyeliner I have used. If you're new with liquid eyeliner or find it difficult to apply, I highly reccomment drying this product! The flexible tip allows you to easily apply this eyeliner with maximum control. I use the shade brown black for a more natural look.

Favorite Music of 2015

Monday, December 28, 2015

Hello everybody! This past year was filled with so much wonderful music. Some of my favorite artists released new albums, music videos and I attended two of my favorite concerts! As 2015 wraps up, I thought I would share what I was listening to for the past 12 months.

Albums:

1. 1989- Taylor Swift

This album is AMAZING. Even though it technically came out in 2014, I listened to it almost everyday throughout this past year. I also went to the 1989 tour over the summer, and it was the best concert I've ever been to. There are just so many fantastic songs on this album.

2. X- Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran has to be one of the most talented artists around. I know this album also came out in 2014, but I listened to it a lot this year, and went to his multiply tour this pat summer too! I find it SO amazing that he performs every single one of his concerts solo. He creates the background music with his loop pedal, plays guitar extremely well and has an amazing voice. I love this album so much, and I'd have to say I like it more than his first one. Plus, Tenerife Sea is on this album, which is my all time favorite song!

3. Revival- Selena Gomez

I was really excited for this album to come out! It just came out this past October, and I was definitely not disappointed! I think this is Selena's best album to date. Revival is full of inspiring, empowering and uplifting lyrics. I really like how she told her store throughout this album, which is something I feel like she hasn't done before.

4. Storyteller- Carrie Underwood

I started listening to Carrie Underwood's music when her Blown Away album came out. I like her Storyteller album a lot better! Carrie has such a powerful voice.  When you listen to the lyrics carefully, each song feels like it is its own story, I love that! Between the songs like What I Never Knew I Always Wanted and Renegade Runaway, this album has the perfect mix of ballads and upbeat songs!

5. Kill The Lights- Luke Bryan

Luke Bryan's music always puts me in a good mood! This album has a really good variety of ballad and upbeat songs! My favorites on the album are Home Alone Tonight, Move and Way Way Back!

Songs (in no particular order):

1. Confident- Demi Lovato
2. Stone Cold- Demi Lovato
3. Stitches- Shawn Mendes
4. I Know What You Did Last Summer- Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello
5. Bright- Ecosmith
6. I Was Made For Loving You- Tori Kelly and Ed Sheeran
7. Hello- Adele
8. Revival- Selena Gomez
9. Kill Em With Kindness- Selena Gomez
10. Sober- Selena Gomez
11. Camouflage- Selena Gomez
12. Nobody- Selena Gomez
13. Rise- Selena Gomez
14. Levels- Nick Jonas
15. Church Bells- Carrie Underwood
16. Heartbeat- Carrie Underwood
17. What I Never Knew I Always Wanted- Carrie Underwood
18. Tenerife Sea- Ed Sheeran
19. Thinking Out Loud- Ed Sheeran
20. Take Your Time- Sam Hunt
21. Blank Space- Taylor Swift
22. I Know Places- Taylor Swift
23. Wonderland- Taylor Swift
24. You Are In Love- Taylor Swift
25. Out Of The Woods- Taylor Swift
26. Worth It- Fifth Harmony
27. I'm A Mess- Ed Sheeran
28. John Cougar, John Deere, John 316- Keith Urban
29. Home Alone Tonight- Luke Bryan
30. Way Way Back- Luke Bryan

I know this is a pretty long list, but one of the hardest questions you could ask me would be: what is your favorite song? I figured giving a list like this would give you a good idea of what kind of music I've been listening to this past year. I can't wait to see what new music is in store for 2016!

Christmas Outfit of the Day

The title says it all, this is the outfit I wore on Christmas!

I got my white shirt for Christmas. I love the sheer lace detailing on the chest and sleeves. This shirt is very versatile because I can wear it with jeans for a more casual look, or with a skirt to dress it up. I paired this shirt with black jeans. I feel like the black jeans made the outfit a little more dressier than just wearing it with regular jeans.
To accessorize, I wore a pink and blue headband I also got for Christmas. I love the pearl and rhinestone detailing in it!

Shirt- Express
Pants- Charlotte Russe
Headband- The Stone Flower

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Outfit of the Day

Sunday, December 20, 2015

I'm sorry this post is so late! I published it on Thanksgiving, but it never loaded right and didn't actually upload. The worst thing is that I just noticed it now, yikes!

Thanksgiving marks the official kick off for the holiday season. What better way to start the holidays than a day full of family and REALLY good food? Every year I start the day off watching the Macy's parade, which is followed by a day at home spent cooking and hanging out with my family. Even though I have a low key day, I love dressing up for it!

I wore one of my favorite dresses that I actually got from Macy's a few years back. I love the lace on this dress! The lace makes it dressier than an everyday casual dress, but it's still very wearable. I paired it with a burgundy cropped blazer to add some fall color and black tights.

My Favorite Fashion Pieces for Fall

Monday, November 9, 2015

When it comes to fashion, fall is by far my favorite season! I love wearing sweaters, boots and scarves. Layering my outfits is something I love to do, and fall weather is absolutely perfect for doing so. Below are five items I have absolutely been loving this season!

This is a sweater dress I bought from American Eagle a couple years ago. There is something about wearing burgundy during fall that makes me so happy. This dress is super comfortable! I love wearing it with black tights or my gray and black floral print leggings. I usually pair it with black riding boots or by brown combat boots!

I got this scarf for only $6.00 at Forever 21 last month, it's definitely a style steal! I wear more red and black once the weather starts turning colder, so this scarf has been great! My favorite outfit I wore it with would be my black skater dress, which I paired with a black cropped sweater, red tights and ballet flats. Plus the plaid makes this scarf even better! This item is still available, click here to purchase it!
I purchased these booties from Macy's last month on clearance. You can never underestimate the clearance section, sometimes you can find REALLY great things! I've love pairing these with tights, leggings or just regular pants obviously. My favorite outfit I wore with them would be black leggings, with a long floral print sweater I have.

If you couldn't already tell, wearing plaid is one of my favorite things about fall. This isn't the exact shirt I have, but it's similar. I have a red, navy and while plaid shirt that I wear a lot this time of year. It's from Forever 21 and it is SO comfortable. I love wearing it with leggings around my apartment or jeans and my riding boots or booties for a more put together look.

Since I got my plaid poncho last year I couldn't find it online, but this one is similar! It is from Forever 21 like mine is, except mine is black, white and red. This is great to wear on those extra cool fall days. Wearing a poncho can instantly upgrade a plain outfit, making you look like an instant fashionista! I love wearing my poncho with black leggings, a black or white long sleeve shirt and either riding boots or booties. This also looks really cute if you wear a turtleneck underneath it!

I'd love to hear what some of your favorite clothing pieces are to wear in the fall. Let me know in the comments below!

Fall Outfit of the Day

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

So, it's fall time, you bought a blanket scarf because they looked adorable on Pinterest and then you get it in the mail and its huge. And I mean HUGE! This is exactly what happened to me. I ordered my blanket scarf online last year from Aerie after seeing how great they looked on so many people. The only issue with it was the size. I didn't realize how big it actually would be. Since the scarf is so bulky, I have been having the hardest time trying to figure out how to wear it. After watching a few YouTube videos, I decided to try this way. I folded the scarf in half to make a triangle. Then, I wrapped the scarf around my shoulders like a shawl, with the point going over my back. Lastly, I used a simple black belt to emphasize my waist.

I'm still looking for a way to make this work as an actual scarf! If you have any ideas, let me know!

Steal Her Style: Selena Gomez

Friday, September 25, 2015

When it comes to celebrity style, Selena Gomez has been one of my favorites for a while. She has transformed her style from an innocent tween on Disney Channel to a grown women dominating the world of fashion. One of the things I admire most about Selena's style is the way she always has an element of class in her outfits.
Recently, Selena was photographed in London for Fashion Week, and her outfits were definitely on point! I chose four of my favorite outfits she was photographed wearing, and put together a less expensive version.

Dress: $22.00  Sunglasses: $7.90 Shoes: $54.94

New York Fashion Week

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

NYFW for Spring 2016 wrapped up last week and it's on to London Fashion Week! I was really hoping to blog throughout the week, unfortunately I had a lot of school work and wasn't able to. That's the one thing I don't like about school, the homework takes up ALL OF MY TIME.
There are so many things I want to mention in the post, so it's hard to narrow it down. I don't want to make this extremely long. I'll most likely have multiple posts about some of my favorite shows and trends throughout the week. Hey, it's better a week late then never, right?

The first thing I was really excited about was the debut of Lauren Conrad's LC line at NYFW. If you didn't already know, Lauren Conrad's LC line is a clothing line carried at Kohl's. I've always liked her line and I love Lauren Conrad's style! Her line debuted on the first day of fashion week and it was everything I hoped for!

The line was a romantic dream. I love the femininity of her line. It included a lot of white, pastel colors, light weight fabrics and floral prints. The pieces by themselves were simple, but when styled they were beautiful and complimented each other extremely well. The main word I would use to describe Conrad's line is elegant. The delicate fabrics and lace were very fairytale-esque.  I love how Conrad incorporated a sense of modesty in her line, yet it is still very stylish!
Now, I couldn't talk about how much I love Lauren Conrad's line without showing you some of my favorite looks. Below are a few of my favorite looks from the collection!

My VMA Red Carpet Recap

Monday, August 31, 2015

On the night of an award show you can usually find me scouring Twitter, checking out the red carpet looks. I love seeing what all of the celebrities wear and who is best and worst dressed.
Last night was the 2015 Video Music Awards! Like I'm sure many of you did too, I tuned in to MTV at 8pm to watch all the stars walk the carpet. Most importantly, I could not wait to see Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams music video, which I loved!
From some of the craziest to most elegant looks, I'm here to show you my favorite and least favorite looks of the night!

Favorites:

Vanessa Hudgens showed up in a lovely Naeem Khan dress. This dress screamed her name, one hundred percent! Vanessa is known for her signature bohemian style  so it was no surprise to see Vanessa in this ensemble. The floral design on the dress accompanied with longer necklaces and bangles added the bohemian feel. Vanessa completed her look with signature loose waves in a half updo. The only thing I wish was different is the shade of the dress. It seems a little too close to her skin tone. Overall, I really like this look and it definitely fits her style!

Demi Lovato is nothing less than confident in this stunning skin-tight dress. Demi looked AMAZING in this geometric print, light pink and nude dress.
I love the simplicity of her look. I'm glad she wore minimal jewelry so the focus stayed on her dress. Another thing I love about her dress is the proportion. The long sleeves mixed with the mini skirt adds a touch of elegance to her look. She looks sexy, but isn't showing too much skin.
Since Demi is on the shorter side, the plunging neckline was a good choice for her. It elongates her face and torso, which helps her look taller.
I'm really loving this look. It all looks SO good on her, including her makeup!

Greer Grammer wow'd everybody in this berry colored dress. I think it's the perfect color for transitioning from summer to fall.  I noticed that I tend to like the more simplistic red carpet looks. I think it's because a simplistic look shows the celebrities beauty in a more elegant way.
Greer's dress features a plunging neckline with a long handkerchief skirt. The neckline and slit on the side shows just the right amount of skin without being too scandalous. Since the neckline is so low, I wish she wore a longer silver necklace instead of a collar one.
This dress looks great on her and the silver accessories look superb with it!

Least Favorites:

I know Kim Kardashian is pregnant, but I think she could have done way better than this. The dress isn't a flattering color, the lace up neckline is a little bazaar and the pockets on the hips don't make much sense.
If Kim opted for an A-line or baby doll dress, it would have suited her much better. Let's hope she looks better on the next red carpet.

Ciara arrived at the VMA's in a very confusing look. I'm not quite sure what is going on here. Is it a dress? Are there shorts under there? The fringe seems a little extreme for me, I'm not really liking this look. I think it would've looked better if less skin was showing on top and middle and then cinch the waist in. This way the fringe would mostly be part of the skirt instead of draping across the entire body.

The host of it all....Miley Cyrus. Miley is known for her crazy, out of this world wardrobe choices. It was no surprise Miley walked down the red carpet in a close to nothing outfit. We can only hope Miley shows less skin on her next red carpet appearance, but nobody can really know what to expect from her.

Who wore some of your favorite and least favorite looks of the night?

An Outfit of the Day

Monday, August 24, 2015

Two days ago I moved into my apartment at school, things have been a little crazy. I finally got situated and thought it'd be a perfect time to post!

I wore this outfit a few days ago and it's one of my go-to's in the summer. I love this dress because I feel like I don't need to accessorize it much. It's patterned and detailed, I wouldn't want accessories to take away from that. My absolute favorite part is the back! The bows down the back make it unique. I haven't seen many dresses like this before.

My hat I'm wearing is from Target. When I saw a lot of hats this style on Pinterest, I loved how versatile they were! It's perfect for any season. I can put it on and it instantly upgrades my outfit! I've see hats this style at American Eagle, The Limited, Forever 21 and Target.

3 Fall Trends to Start Your School Year in Style

Thursday, August 13, 2015

As soon as the calendar turns to August 1st it feels like there is a little robot in everyone's brain that turns on the switch for back-to-school mode. Working in retail makes this hard to avoid, but I can't help but notice the earlier and earlier arrival dates for back-to-school supplies, clothes, everything! It's crazy that I'm already going back to school in two weeks, I'm excited, but it also feels like summer went by faster than I could blink.

Even though I'm not looking forward to starting schoolwork again (EWW), one thing that always gets me excited about the new school year is the fall fashion! I absolutely love seeing what new styles are in stores, what is popular, what the "in" colors are. Plus, who doesn't want to treat themselves to a new outfit before heading back to school?  I can't forget to mention with fall comes scarves, layering and did I mention scarves?! Here are three fall trends to ensure you start your school year in style!

1. Booties

Don't say goodbye to your lovely riding boots yet, just make a little extra room for a new pair of booties! I love how this style of shoe is so versatile. They look great with a casual outfit, yet you can dress them up for a night out. I'd say booties are the most popular style of shoe for the fall!

(starting clockwise) American Eagle, JCPenney, Macy's, Forever 21

2. Denim Skirt / Jeans

To be honest with you, I'm still a little iffy with the denim skirt trend. I've seen so many people in magazines and on Instagram wearing these types of skirts. I think they look cute on, but I'm not quite sure if I can pull this trend off. Part of me is like "hey this is cute, wear it" and another part of me is like "oh no this is middle school all over again, don't wear it". I might try some of these on and see how they look, but if you have one, go wear it with confidence because you have the guts to pull it off!

(starting clockwise) H&M, Forever 21, Macy's (American Rag), Top Shop

As we saw in spring and currently in summer, the 70's has had a major influence in fashion. The 70's trends are being carried over into fall fashion, it definitely isn't leaving anytime soon! Flared jeans which were huge in the 1970's are reemerging, looking hotter than ever! Flared jeans aren't particularly my cup of tea, but if you're into them, they're definitely a staple for your fall wardrobe!

(starting clockwise) Express, American Eagle, Charlotte Russe, JCPenney

Girlfriend jeans are another new fall trend that are becoming quite popular. This style is more relaxed than your traditional skinny jean, yet it isn't as baggy as the boyfriend jean. These are great for an effortless, yet put together look! To complete your effortless look, be sure to pair them with flats, a stylish sneaker or a pair of heels!

(starting clockwise) Express, H&M, Express, American Eagle

3. Printed Leggings

This is a trend I'm really liking for the fall! Adding a print to a classic pair of black leggings is a unique twist to revamp your outfit! Try pairing a pair of printed leggings with a solid color tunic or a duster sweater to complete your look!

Disney Princess Inspired Outfits

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Hey everyone! This post was really fun for me to do! If you didn't know this about me yet, I absolutely love Disney and I wish I could teleport to Disney World whenever I wanted. I got the idea for this post from an article I saw on Seventeen.com called, "If Disney Princesses Went to College", read it here. I thought it would be fun to create my own outfits inspired by them. Using the website Polyvore, I created four outfits inspired by a few of my favorite princesses, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle and Snow White!
