NYFW Fall/Winter'16: Day 2

Monday, February 15, 2016

From Ralph Lauren and Jason Wu to Kate Spade, day two of NYFW was filled with a plethora of stunning shows. It probably comes to no surprise that Kate Spade New York was my favorite show of the day. Before I continue, I should probably mention that the new Kate Spade line was shown in a presentation, rather than a full blown show.

Something about her clothing always sticks out to me. The pieces that were shown were very elegant and perfectly pulled together, which is something I admire in fashion. The fall/winter collection was nothing out of the ordinary for Kate Spade. The collection was very feminine; even the menswear inspired pieces had a bit of a feminine flair to them. This season brought classic Kate Spade pieces, like floral frocks and structured coats, but added a twist. Floral dresses saw a change with a tea length hemline and the addition of a  button up shirt worn underneath. Classic structured coats were refreshed with the addition of new pastel hues and houndstooth patterns. These coats were paired with tailored trousers and tea length dresses. A cropped leather jacket and patterned jumpsuit, pieces that are unique for Kate Spade made their debut in this line. A boxy, cropped leather jacket with shearling accents was paired with black trousers and a striped shirt; very Audrey Hepburn esque. The patterned jumpsuit Kate Spade showed off,  could act as a great layering piece for fall, or could be worn alone for spring.

This collection was definitely not a disappointment! Many classic Kate Spade pieces we all know and love were included, along with new unexpected items, which added a fresh take. I would wear the entire collection if I could afford it, but unfortunately I can't. To pull off Kate Spade's signature style next fall, be sure to have three key pieces, a floral printed dress, button-up shirt, and a structured peacoat. Below are some of my favorite looks from the presentation!

NYFW Fall/Winter'16: Day 1

Sunday, February 14, 2016

I know I'm already a few days behind, but I'm going to be doing something a little different for this season of New York Fashion Week. I usually post about a few of my favorite shows from the entire week, to change it up, I decided I'm going to post my favorite show from each day of NYFW.

NYFW kicked off Thursday, February 11th. My favorite show of the day was Katie Ermillo.
This show featured 19 evening looks. The garments were neutral shades, consisting of black, white, navy, and taupe. When I was looking at the looks on Vogue Runway, the one thing that stood out to me was Ermillo's ability to design for a women's body. Her body skimming silhouettes are flattering on all body types; they hug a women's body in all the right places. Ermillos collection could be described as timeless with a twist. She created a unique spin on classic floor length evening gowns and little black dresses by mixing textures. Her combination of lace and fur was one of my favorite aspects of the line. Below are five of my favorite looks from the show.

I'm really loving the mixture of romantic and edgy touches that are portrayed in the line. I can't wait to see what the rest of NYFW brings!
