You Better Break Out Your Boots

Sunday, January 29, 2017

As we approach that annual winter slump ( you know, that annoying time when the holidays are over, but the weather is still bitter cold) it can be tricky to find the motivation to put on a cute outfit and conquer our day. I totally get that, trust me. My favorite way to feel great during these colder months is to have fun with my fashion--especially boots!

Boots are my favorite type of shoe to wear in the winter. You'll pretty much find me in the stylish shoe from October until March. The lovely people from King Ranch Saddle Shop are sharing style tips, so I wanted to show you how I like to style my favorite types boots .

I'll be showing you how I like to style the riding boot, ankle bootie, oh and I can't leave out the classic cowboy boot.

The Ravishing Riding Boot

You can never ever go wrong with a riding boot. This staple is always a safe go-to boot when you're not sure what to wear. I have a pair of black leather Ralph Lauren riding boots that I wear ALL the time. I wear them so much that the heel is slanted, so it's no joke.

When I'm in a rush, my go-to outfit is leggings, a tunic, and scarf. I know, it sounds simple, but it's comfy, gets the job done, and it a comfy option that looks like you put more effort into your look than you really did. When wearing an outfit like this, I love adding boot socks. This is a great way to add an extra touch to any outfit, plus it adds warmth too! I'd say that's a double bonus.

The Amazing Ankle Bootie

Do you know why these little booties are so amazing? You can wear them with anything. Literally. From leggings and jeans, to skirts and dresses nothing is off limits, how wonderful is that? My go-to ankle bootie is a black suede pair with a two inch heel. Pairing these boots with a floral dress, peacoat and tights is my absolute favorite way to style them. There's something about walking in heels down the streets of New York that makes you feel like a #girlboss.

The Classic Cowboy Boot

I'm a big fan of country music, so cowboy boots are great way to let your inner cowgirl show through. Hey, who says you have to live in the South to rock these boots? I say, if you like them, wear them! You can find great quality cowboy boots at King Ranch Saddle Shop! Be sure to check out their various cowgirl boot styles to compliment any outfit. You should definitely check out their site!

For the blustery winter months, I would style this boot with a pair of skinny jeans and flannel skirt. I know, pretty predictable, but you can never go wrong with this combo. I absolutely love wearing flannel shirts in the winter time. They're so cozy and warm.

Venturing out into the cold may seem scary, but with cute shoes and a fabulous outfit to match, there's no reason why you shouldn't conquer the cold.

A Minnie Mouse is making a Huge Splash in the Fashion Industry

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

What would you do if I told you my style was influenced by a mouse? I'm sure you are all familiar with the Walt Disney icon, Minnie Mouse. Known for her ultra girly polka dots and dazzling bows, Minnie has been impacting fashion like no other.

Over the past year, designers such as, Kate Spade, Lauren Conrad, and Cath Kidston have released Minnie Mouse inspired collections. Hey, I don't blame them. Being the huge Disney fan I am, I'm always drawing inspiration from various characters and Minnie happens to be my favorite! Who knew one little mouse could make such a big footprint in the fashion industry?

The newest Minnie Mouse collaboration is with Olympia Le-Tan. The line will be sold exclusively at Uniqlo stores. The collab was announced at Minnie's annual Rock the Dots event. Rock the Dots is an event, which was started by Disney in 2016. In fact, Le-Tan designed Minnie's blue polka dot dress pictured below. The magical event celebrated a collection of art and fashion inspired by our favorite mouse.

This past Sunday (on National Polka Dot Day to be exact) Rock the Dots took place at Disney Springs in Florida. The day featured live performances, exclusive discounts at stores, and photo opportunities. I really wish I could have been there. I mean, how much fun does this event sound?

While I'm here, telling you how much I love Disney and how Minnie Mouse inspires my style, what kind of post would this be if I didn't give you a little outfit inspiration? Below are three outfits to show you how to rock your dots! These looks are great for every day wear, and with the addition of some ears, they're perfect for a trip to any Disney Park!

How do you like to rock your dots? Let me know in the comments below!

Pretty in Pink on the Golden Globes Red Carpet

Saturday, January 14, 2017

You know that dream many girls have when they're young? The one where you move into Cinderella's castle and become a real life Disney Princess. Sunday night, dozens of stars were able to bring this fantasy to life. They brought a lot of glitz and glamour to the streets of Beverly Hills, as the 2017 Gold Globes took place.

As actors, actresses and musicians paraded down the red carpet, one thing that stuck out on the sea of red was the amount of pink. Maybe it was because you don't see a light pink shade too often on the carpet, or the fact that it's my favorite color. Either way, there was definitely an abundance of this color among the rest.

The first lovely lady to show off this trend was Lilly Collins. Collins made her way down the red carpet in this Zuhair Murad gown. The blush pink complimented her skin tone extremely well. The gown was embellished with intricate floral embroidery. This was personally my favorite look of the entire night. Everything from the dress, her makeup and hair fit together so well. Definitely princess material, right?

The next celeb to get that pink memo was Carrie Underwood. Underwood showed up in a pale pink gown. The figure hugging dress featured side cut outs and a rose inspired bodice. I loved the choice of simple dangling earrings and just a few rings to accessorize. More jewelry than that and the look would have been over powered.

I have to admit though, this look wasn't my favorite. The color looked great with her blonde hair, however the ruffles were just a tad too much for me. After all, less is more. If there wasn't as much going on on the top then this look would've been spot on.

Next to hop on the pink bandwagon was Felicity Jones. Sticking with that fairytale theme, Jones showed off this Gucci gown. Like Underwood, I can't say I was a huge fan of the look. The color flattered her, and her natural makeup look complimented the dress very well, but the dress itself just wasn't the best. I think it would've looked better if the ruffles were taken away on the top and the bow was taken off too.

The last lady to sport a pink gown was Guliana Rancic. Now, I know pink may not  be the first color that comes to mind, but the dress has that blush pink / nude vibe going on, so to me it counts. Rancic wore a Zakhem couture gown from the Fall  / Winter 2016 collection. Rancic is known for appearing in romantic, princess ballgowns, which is probably why her dresses end up being some of my favorite looks from the night.

Everything about this look worked extremely well together. I love the high neckline and A-line skirt. The ensemble was very classy and elegant. Oh, for a fun fact about this gown: it's hand painted! Can you believe that?

Among all of the dresses on the red carpet, many stars decided to live out their Disney Princess dream in pink, can you blame them? While some dresses were a miss, many were definitely a hit. All of these pink looks were pulled off with class and elegance, would you expect anything less from a princess?

How to Get A Natural Daytime Makeup Look

Thursday, January 5, 2017

Between the eyeliners, lipsticks, and eyeshadows, it can be a little difficult to decide how much makeup really is too much for a daytime look. I know, it can be daunting. The last thing you want is to look like your precious products exploded on your face, which is why I'm going to be showing you how to get this makeup look pictured below--perfect for the daytime and everyday wear.

This is a great natural-looking way to do your makeup, that is perfect for work or school. My goal was to create a look that added warmth and brightness to my skin, while achieving a flawless complexion. I also highlighted my eyes with minimal eye makeup and the help of a lip color.

Ready to achieve this look? Let the makeup application begin!

Face:

1. On a clean face, apply any moisturizer (one with at least SPF 15 is the best)

2. I applied CoverGirl's Clean Matte BB Cream all over my face with a damp Beauty Blender. Dampening your makeup sponge first allows for a smoother application, oh, and it blends flawlessly too!

3. Next, I took Maybelline's Fit Me Concealer and applied it all over my eyelids for a primer, and under my eyes to brighten them up. Again, I used my damp Beauty Blender to do this.

4. Nobody likes shiny skin, am I right? Apply any powder all over your face for a matte finish.

5. To add some shape, I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Contour Kit, and applied the lightest bronzer to the hollow of my cheek, temples, and jaw bone.

6. Next, I filled in my eyebrows using a brown eye pencil from Covergirl.

7. After that, I used the same contour palette and took the lightest highlight shade and applied it on my cheek bones and cupids bow. That highlight though, you can't forget it!

8. To finish off my face, I took the bright pink blush from the Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe Palette and applied it to the apples of my cheeks, brushing upwards. When you use a bright pink blush, all you need is a tiny dab of it. You don't want to give off any clown vibes, trust me.

Eyes:

1. Using my Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette, I first applied the shade "Stark" all over my lid.

2. Next, I applied "Frisk" on my outer corner and blended it into my crease.

3. After that, I applied "Skimp"on my brow bone.

4. To finish off the eyeshadow, I applied a white shade in my inner corner to brighten up my eyes.

5. To complete the eye look, I used the L'Oreal Butterfly Effect Mascara.

Lips:

1. First, I applied Revlon's HD Lipstick in the shade "Rose" all over my lips.

2. To add a little extra shine to my lips, I added a swipe of Covergirl's Colorlicious Lipgloss in the shade, "Whipped Berry. "

There you have it; the entire look! Will you be trying it out? Let me know in the comments below!
