Pretty in Pink on the Golden Globes Red Carpet

Saturday, January 14, 2017

You know that dream many girls have when they're young? The one where you move into Cinderella's castle and become a real life Disney Princess. Sunday night, dozens of stars were able to bring this fantasy to life. They brought a lot of glitz and glamour to the streets of Beverly Hills, as the 2017 Gold Globes took place.

As actors, actresses and musicians paraded down the red carpet, one thing that stuck out on the sea of red was the amount of pink. Maybe it was because you don't see a light pink shade too often on the carpet, or the fact that it's my favorite color. Either way, there was definitely an abundance of this color among the rest.

The first lovely lady to show off this trend was Lilly Collins. Collins made her way down the red carpet in this Zuhair Murad gown. The blush pink complimented her skin tone extremely well. The gown was embellished with intricate floral embroidery. This was personally my favorite look of the entire night. Everything from the dress, her makeup and hair fit together so well. Definitely princess material, right?

The next celeb to get that pink memo was Carrie Underwood. Underwood showed up in a pale pink gown. The figure hugging dress featured side cut outs and a rose inspired bodice. I loved the choice of simple dangling earrings and just a few rings to accessorize. More jewelry than that and the look would have been over powered.

I have to admit though, this look wasn't my favorite. The color looked great with her blonde hair, however the ruffles were just a tad too much for me. After all, less is more. If there wasn't as much going on on the top then this look would've been spot on.

Next to hop on the pink bandwagon was Felicity Jones. Sticking with that fairytale theme, Jones showed off this Gucci gown. Like Underwood, I can't say I was a huge fan of the look. The color flattered her, and her natural makeup look complimented the dress very well, but the dress itself just wasn't the best. I think it would've looked better if the ruffles were taken away on the top and the bow was taken off too.

The last lady to sport a pink gown was Guliana Rancic. Now, I know pink may not  be the first color that comes to mind, but the dress has that blush pink / nude vibe going on, so to me it counts. Rancic wore a Zakhem couture gown from the Fall  / Winter 2016 collection. Rancic is known for appearing in romantic, princess ballgowns, which is probably why her dresses end up being some of my favorite looks from the night.

Everything about this look worked extremely well together. I love the high neckline and A-line skirt. The ensemble was very classy and elegant. Oh, for a fun fact about this gown: it's hand painted! Can you believe that?

Among all of the dresses on the red carpet, many stars decided to live out their Disney Princess dream in pink, can you blame them? While some dresses were a miss, many were definitely a hit. All of these pink looks were pulled off with class and elegance, would you expect anything less from a princess?
