This post isn't about fashion, it's not about beauty, and doesn't fit into a lifestyle category either. Basically, this topic has absolutely nothing to do with my blog, but I have an opinion and I want to get it out. Plus, I figured I would save everybody's Facebook feed from another long post about the Orlando events and just write about it here.
By now, I'm sure everyone has heard about the two shootings that have taken place in Orlando, Florida these past two days. This is absolutely crazy to me, I don't really know how to explain it. The first shooting resulted in the death of Christina Grimmie, a singer who was found on YouTube. In high school, I used to watch her covers on Youtube; she had such an incredible voice. It's insane to me that she was murdered, especially at such a young age. This all took place while she was meeting fans, which is even scarier. I just don't get it.
The second shooting took place at a nightclub, and to my surprise, is the biggest U.S massacre in history. I don't understand how someone can kill innocent people who have done nothing wrong. With all of the terrible events that have happened across the world over the past year, it's scary that these shooting are becoming the new "normal." We shouldn't have to live in a world where innocent people being killed is something we just brush off and accept. There has to be a change.
After hearing about these two events, I couldn't help but think about Selena Gomez's song, "Kill Em With Kindness." Everything about this song represents how people should be living. While it is a basic concept, it's something people need to start doing regularly. I don't understand what would make someone fire a gun at another person, it's hard to wrap my head around, but if everyone was just a little more kind, the world could be a better place. I know that sounds naive and it wouldn't solve the problem 100 percent, but it's a start that could make a difference.
