NYFW Fall 2015!

Saturday, February 28, 2015

Since New York Fashion Week recently came to a close, that means another week went by where I was wishing I could be in NYC. I wanted to share with you two of my favorite collections that were shown during the week!

Erin Fetherston's collection was among one of my favorites for this season! Her collection is called Wildwood. Fetherston said she was inspired by fairytales, which gave a different perspective to her girly dresses that she is known for. Many darker colors were used, like, deep turquoise, burgundy and black with florals mixed in. Maybe this was because I have fairytales on my mind, but these colors remind me of the M.A.C Maleficent line they had about this past summer. I could see myself wearing a majority of the pieces from this collection, which is why it's probably one of my favorites! In the fall and winter time I love wearing burgundy and I find myself wearing black more often, this collection is very fitting! I feel that turquoise is a color that can be worn all year round and it's flattering on everyone, so I was really happy to see that color incorporated! Whether it was a light weight chiffon top paired with an A-line floral skirt on the runway or a black shift dress with lace embellishments, I love how she kept a romantic feel across the entire collection! Here are a few of my favorite pieces and trust me, it was SO hard to narrow my favorites down!

Like always, I loved Kate Spade's collection! Deborah Lloyd, the chief creative officer for Kate Spade was inspired by the magical stories of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Lloyd said she "always keeps the clothes whimsical and fun"(style.com), but because of her inspiration, the vibrant hues Kate Spade is known for were toned down.
The collection was a great mix of menswear inspiration and bright prints and pops of color. The collection included many boxy coats, some with eye catching plaids, neutrals. and striking colors like pink and red. Something different that was seen throughout the collection was fur accents on the garments and accessories. This is where the inspiration from Fantastic Mr. Fox comes into play.
I really really loved that in this Kate Spade collection, lots of plaid ranging from bright reds to neutrals were used. I think this is great because in the fall time my love for plaid definitely sky rockets!
What I think is perfect about this collection is the fact that Kate Spade stayed true to her look she's known for with t-length skirts, oversized coats and girly accents while sprinkling in fur accents and an array of bold and neutral plaids! I would 100% wear almost everything from the collection. Once again, I had trouble narrowing down to just a few of my favorite looks, but hey, I think choosing 8 out of 30 looks isn't too bad.

Valentine's Day Outfit!

Saturday, February 14, 2015

Valentine's Day is one of those days people either love or hate. For me I love it because it's the perfect excuse to wear red lipstick, watch Nicholas Sparks movies and eat chocolate, plus I'm one of those corny people who loves to wear red on Valentine's Day, green on St. Patrick's Day and so on. There was no question if I was going to incorporate red into my outfit today!

Where I live is in the middle of a snowstorm right now, so I wore one of my absolute favorite, coziest sweaters! I wanted to go all out and wear red tights, but I couldn't find them. I paired my sweater with black tights, a black long sleeve turtleneck and I wore a black belt around my waist to add shape to my outfit. For accessories, I wore my red bow headband and I paired this outfit with my black riding boots earlier today.

For makeup, I kept my eyes simple because of the the bold lip. I put a light brown eye shadow on my lid that had a little bit of a sparkle to it. Next, I used a medium matte brown in my crease and finished the eyeshadow off with a shimmery champagne color for a highlight on my brow bone. To complete the eye look I used my volumizing mascara. And last but not least I finished off with a red lip! To make your lipstick last 10x longer, put on a matching lip liner all over your lips first, then follow with the lipstick!

Cardigan- Aeropostale
Turtleneck- Old Navy
Tights- Target
Headband- Icing

Makeup:
Eyeshadow- Elf little black book palette

My Trip to Ireland!

Monday, February 2, 2015

Hey everyone! I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've posted! I've been busy the past couple weeks because during my schools J-Term, I studied abroad for 2 weeks in Ireland. I got back a little over a week ago and I finally got around to posting about it.  Everything about Ireland was absolutely incredible! All the people were extremely nice, the food was delicious and the scenery was breath taking, pictures really don't do it justice. Sheep are my favorite animal, and let me tell you, people aren't lying when they say there are a lot of sheep in Ireland, it made me SO happy!

Now I know this isn't a fashion post, but I loved Ireland too much to not share anything about it. While I was there I took a photography class, so here are some of the pictures I took!

I took over 1000 pictures, so it was extremely hard to pick out just a few to post. I'm really going to try and post more often! Having a broken phone and laptop made it pretty difficult to post. I already have my next post in mind, I'm going to try to get that up shortly!

A Little Holiday Outfit Inspiration

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Hey everyone! I'm going to be showing you two outfit ideas that would be great to wear on Christmas!

1)

This first outfit is an option if you love dressing up like I do! I always use the holidays as an excuse to dress up, I just love my skirts and dresses! I'm wearing a black short sleeved shirt, with a high waisted floral skirt and white cardigan and since it is cold where I'm from, I'm wearing some black tights too. You can't see my feet, but I would wear black ballet flats or black pumps with this outfit depending on what I feel like wearing. To bring out the red in my skirt, I wore a red statement necklace. This necklace was a total steal! I purchased it from the clearance section in Icing for only $4.00 when it was originally $12.00!
There are actually tons of sales going on in many stores at my local mall and there are many to come after Christmas! If you have gift cards to spend or any extra money, definitely take a trip to the mall after Christmas. A lot of the sales then tend to be better deals than black friday! Who doesn't feel extremely proud when you score an amazing deal?! I have found really great deals in the past at Free People and JCPenney.

Shirt- Justice (since I work there)
Skirt and Cardigan- Forever 21
Tights- Target
Headband and Necklace- Icing

2)

An outfit like this is perfect if you're just staying at home with family on Christmas and want be comfy or if you're just not into the whole dressing up thing. I'm wearing an oversized high-low sweater from American Eagle with my fleece lined black leggings. I know I've mentioned this before, but these leggings are SO comfy and they were only $5.00 at TJ Maxx, HIGHLY recommend you go pick up a pair! Just incase you can't tell in the picture (I know it's not the best lighting), my sweater is an off white ivory color! I decided to wear this sweater because the chiffon trim makes it a little dressier than your average sweater. To stay festive, I paired the outfit with a red and black floral print infinity scarf. I feel like the scarf pulled the outfit together and added warmth! To complete the look, I wore my back ballet flats.

Sweater- American Eagle
Leggings- TJ Maxx
Scarf- Charlotte Russe
Ballet Flats- Macys

P.S Don't forget your red lipstick with both outfits, it wouldn't be a holiday look without it!

~Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas,

How to Add a Little Sparkle to Your New Years Outfit

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

I know you're probably thinking, "What about Christmas, you skipped right over the holidays!" Don't worry, I'm working on a post about Christmas. I just made this on Polyvore the other day and I really wanted to share it! Plus, it's never too early to plan an outfit!

I think the first outfit on the left is a great choice for someone who wants to wear a little sparkle, but might be scared of looking too flashy or just not quite sure how to incorporate it. What I love about this dress is the glitter belt around the waist. This a great way to add sparkle without going full out. Adding sparkly accessories like shoes, headbands and jewelry to spice up your outfit for the New Years is perfect for people who are unsure on how to wear sparkles, but don't want to be looking dull all night. I thought sparkly heels would look really nice with this outfit and help bring out the sparkle in the dress. If you're not feeling that daring, nude heels would look great too! Another aspect of this dress I love is the long sleeves on it. It is perfect for winter, but the light weight material won't overheat you when you're dancing the night away!

The second outfit in the middle is for all of our dramatic ladies out there! If you want to put the sparkles in full swing for the night, this outfit is for you! This dress will definitely make you the talk of the night! I paired it with a cropped leather jacket because I liked the edginess it added, plus mixing textures is very trendy right now! I thought this outfit would look nice with either black flats or pumps depending on your preference. I paired a sparkly headband with the look so your hair had a little excitement too! This outfit would not be complete without red lipstick for a pop of color! You gotta have that red lip classic thing that he likes. (I hope you get that reference!!)

Lastly, for the third outfit, I put together a look that would be perfect if you're staying in with your girls!   While you're hanging out at home watching the ball drop, I'm sure you still want to look festive! I paired a sequin front cardigan with some comfy skinny jeans to make this a casual look. I added a red infinity scarf to tone down the cardigan and incorporate some holiday color. I thought this outfit would look really cute with ankle booties, these have been all the rage this year! I think the Covergirl smoochies tinted lip balm would be perfect for this outfit because it adds a little bit of color to your lips, but it's not as bold as a lipstick and it is super moisturizing! You can't forget to accessorize! Since the cardigan is so sparkly, I added some simple silver hoop earrings.
